Susan & John
WHO WE ARE
Sue & John are a dynamic, experienced, and professional photography team based in Dublin, Ireland. We are passionate about shooting weddings and you can trust us to capture the true spirit and romance of your special day.
Since 2004, we have travelled all over Ireland creating stylish, timeless, and elegant wedding images & capturing lasting memories for our clients on their wedding day. It’s been an exhilarating 20-year journey, and we are always thrilled to bring our natural and candid style of photography to so many brilliant couples.
Most of our bookings are referrals from happy couples. Some of the words they have used to describe us are ‘nice’, ‘polite’, ‘down-to-earth’, ‘invisible’ and ‘light ninjas’!
Photographing a wedding day is one of the most inspiring, challenging, and motivating assignments a photographer can get. Our aim is to unobtrusively capture the feeling, fun and emotion of the day; to create a storybook feel for your album showing the day as it unfolds naturally, resulting in images that are spontaneous and relaxed. Using a mixture of candids, reportage, and relaxed traditional groupings, we will capture the spirit of your day in black & white and glorious colour. Your photographs will have an elegant and timeless appeal that will conjure up happy memories of your Wedding Day that you will treasure always!
Please feel to contact us to talk about settings, styles, prices, or any ideas you may have for your wedding day.
WHAT WE DO
At the Home/Hotel
We start about 2 hours before the Ceremony at the Bride’s home or the hotel room. We want to capture the fun and excitement of everyone getting ready, from hair & make-up to sipping champagne; we like to capture all the little details. I often ask the Bridesmaids to get ready first so that they can help to button up the Brides dress. We take special care to capture the whole scene from family & friends to the fun & flowers. In the meantime, John documents the morning preparations at the Groom’s home or hotel. He likes to capture the Boys doing up their ties, putting on their cufflinks, etc, and if there’s the opportunity, to capture a the Groomsmen enjoying a pint of Guinness or a glass of whiskey if there is a nice pub before they cross to the church. John would leave with the Groomsmen at least half an hour before the Bride, to get early to the Church to catch lots of social candids of the Groom, family & friends mingling before the Bride arrives.
The Ceremony
The second part of the day is where everything speeds up. We photograph guests arriving and the arrival of the Bride at the Church with her Parents and bridesmaids. We like to take some shots of the Bride before she goes down the aisle. This is a good time for the Bride to take a few deep breaths and to relax. The pause here really helps the Bride to collect her thoughts, to keep calm and to take time to really savour the occasion.
We work unobtrusively in the Church using a combination of colour and black and white. After the service, there are the registry shots and then the Newly-Weds walking down the aisle. Outside the church, shots are done of everyone, throwing confetti or rose petals, and generally enjoying the scene. At this point we may also photograph some relaxed family groupings and the Big Group Shot.
The Reception
Back at the reception venue we accompany the Bride & Groom to a beautiful part of the Hotel or Grounds to do some special shots capturing the romance between the newly married couple. It also provides the couple with a valuable moment to themselves, away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds. A moment alone together to appreciate what has just happened and to let that ‘just married’ feeling sink in – this usually makes for some wonderful shots.
Following this we photograph a number (predetermined by you) of traditional relaxed or more formal groups of immediate family & friends. Throughout we capture the atmosphere of the party: socialising with the guests and lots of candid/reportage shots of the Bride & Groom with family and friends.
Towards the bell for dinner we look into the banqueting room, taking special care to record such details as the place settings, the cake and flowers. Usually our day ends when the bell rings for dinner, but an optional evening service is available.
During our consultation process with the Bride & Groom we ensure we have a full understanding of their wishes & expectations. Our aim is to create a timeless and elegant record that our Couple will treasure always.
